Please support our new Fiscal Sponsorship Program
— December 18, 2024 —
We are writing with an update full of good news about what the Hive has been up to and a special request for continued support.
First, as you may have heard, we have formalized a parent organization for all our programs and projects. We are now officially the Climate Justice Hive and received 501(c)(3) status in July. With it, we launched a new program offering fiscal hosting to a couple of wonderful local climate justice organizations.
This pivot came from an emerging need we are grateful we were well positioned to meet. Our previous fiscal host, Open Collective Foundation, abruptly closed this year, leaving us unable to accept donations or fundraise. When we went to ask for fiscal hosting from the organization that two of our closest partners used, we found out that the organization was shifting its focus, and our two partners also needed a home. After two years of connecting small grassroots orgs and individual front-line organizers, we recognized that the need for fiscal sponsorship is huge in and beyond our own community. We were able to rally efforts to quickly form our own fiscal hosting program, and it is now stabilizing while we prepare to grow.
Part of what the Hive has wanted to do to increase the coordination and encourage collaboration of local actors has been to help provide movement infrastructure. Our fiscal hosting program is a great example of this, helping uplift grassroots efforts.
We have also been continuing to learn, iterate, and refine our efforts to map the entire ecosystem of social justice in Boulder County. We have developed a massive, robust database. We continue to learn what works and what doesn’t for creating an interactive online map and dashboard to customize the display of data for specific organizers in ways that can support the paradigm shift and systems changes we need.
We can finally receive flows of financial contribution! We would like to invite you into our community of support. We are currently in an end-of-year fundraising effort. There are two ways to give, which work equally well for us: Our Colorado Gives Day page or our website’s donation page.
All donations will be matched through the end of the year!
This round of funding will allow us to workshop the climate justice ecosystem mapping process with a dozen different groups and networks. Not only will this lead to more collaboration, reach, and effectiveness for the orgs involved, but it will also finish our current phase of development of our approach, which we plan to expand.
Also, if anyone who would like to hear about us comes to mind, please forward this email and/or direct them to our Colorado Gives Day page or our website’s donation page.
We are ever so grateful for your past support.
